About our Founder

Hello! My name is Jacob, and I'm a 12-year-old from Florida with a big passion for the ocean and a special love for sea turtles. I believe that we all have a responsibility to protect our incredible planet, especially its precious marine ecosystems, and that's why I've dedicated myself to being an ocean protector.

From a young age, I've been fascinated by the beauty and diversity of the underwater world. But it was my encounter with a magnificent sea turtle that truly stole my heart. Its graceful movements and gentle nature touched something deep within me, and I knew that I had to do something to ensure their survival.

One of my missions as an ocean protector is to raise awareness about the threats facing sea turtles and their habitats. I've spent countless hours learning about these amazing creatures, understanding their life cycles, and the challenges they face due to pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction. I'm also committed to taking action. Every time I visit the beach, I make sure to clean up any litter I come across, preventing it from ending up in the ocean and harming sea turtles and other marine animals. I also make sure to fill in all the holes I see in the sand and encourage others to join in.

But my love for sea turtles doesn't stop there. I've become involved in conservation organizations that work tirelessly to protect these vulnerable creatures. By volunteering, fundraising, and participating in educational programs, I'm actively contributing to the conservation efforts that ensure sea turtles have a safe and thriving environment.

I'm excited about the future because I know that together we can make a difference. Whether it's reducing our use of plastic, filling in holes in the sand, or supporting initiatives that protect marine habitats, every action counts. By sharing my knowledge and passion, I hope to inspire others, young and old, to join the cause and become ocean protectors too.

Join me on this incredible journey to save our oceans and protect the sea turtles. Together, we can make waves of positive change and ensure a bright future for these magnificent creatures and the world they call home.

About Hole Patrol

Filling in holes at the beach is very important for the conservation of sea turtles for several reasons:

Nesting Disruption: Female sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in the sand. They dig deep nests, deposit their eggs, and then cover them up before returning to the ocean. Holes left unfilled on the beach can disrupt the nesting process by causing females to abandon their nesting attempts or become trapped.

Nest Protection: Filling in holes helps protect sea turtle nests from various threats. Unfilled holes can act as traps for nesting females, hatchlings, or even adult turtles, causing injury or entrapment. By filling in holes, the nesting areas become safer for the turtles, reducing the chances of accidental harm.

Hatchling Survival: Once sea turtle hatchlings emerge from their nests, they instinctively move towards the brightest light, which is usually the natural horizon over the ocean. Holes on the beach can disorient the hatchlings, leading them away from the ocean and towards potential dangers like roads, buildings, or artificial lighting. Filling in holes reduces this risk and helps hatchlings find their way to the sea.

Conservation Awareness: Filling in holes at the beach helps raise awareness about the importance of sea turtle conservation among beachgoers. By taking the initiative to fill in holes, people are reminded of the potential impact they can have on these vulnerable creatures and their habitats. It promotes responsible behavior and encourages individuals to take further steps to protect sea turtles and their nesting areas.

Filling in holes at the beach is a simple yet effective practice that can contribute to the conservation and well-being of sea turtles, ensuring their nesting process is undisturbed and increasing the survival chances of hatchlings.
